From Meg & Gail
A special note from our founders:
Hi everyone!
Meg here! It’s still mind blowing to think that 2019 was our five year milestone for The Heart Series. I never would’ve thought we would be here entering year six. But as we’ve put tons of love, along with countless hours of time and energy into producing the annual conference and building this community, we’ve started to realize that the potential exists far beyond what we have built. We know The Heart Series has the potential to be so much more than just a conference once a year in LA. We know that there are opportunities and interest in us creating content and producing events in other parts of the country (and even the world!) and we’re excited to use 2020, a vision year, to explore and experiment with what the future of The Heart Series could be. In doing so we are beyond excited to announce that the 2020 year will kickoff with something a little bit different. Instead of our annual two-day conference in February, we will be hosting a modified pop-up version of The Heart Series on Friday, March 13 in Austin, TX leading into the SXSW conference. This one-day event will feature all of our annual conference elements, amazing speakers and programming, and will also act as a hub and a space for you to connect with each other. We are so excited to bring The Heart Series out of LA and to a new community and have a greater reach with the concept of business x bettering the world. And that’s not all to come from us next year and we can’t wait to share what else is in the works and gather your insights and feedback on all that is to come. We know that 2020 will be truly pivotal and only lead to a larger community of business leaders aiming to do good. We hope you will continue to join us on this adventure as we pilot a few new projects over the next 12 months!
And Gail here. I wanted to take a moment to get a little personal. Seeing The Heart Series grow year after year beyond our expectations has been one of the greatest joys of my life, and, a lot of work. Looking back, I have appreciated every single moment of it (including last minute speaker cancellations, weather setbacks, a cruise ship not leaving the dock – it has all contributed to my character building, right?!) yet after each conference I’ve wondered, ‘can I do this again? Do I have it in me?’ In all honesty when we started this Meg and I thought The Heart Series would be a one-time event, and yet, here is The Heart Series, six fulfilling years later, still standing proud and fostering a community stronger than ever that continues. With all of the changes coming to The Heart Series in 2020 as it grows and evolves, I think now is the time for me to take a step back. Meg (who has gone above and beyond all of these years during significant moments in my life – she has seen me through the growth of my family, a move out of southern California, and countless other life changes) will take over the reins completely, and I will join The Heart Series new advisory council (more on that soon ). And while I won’t be leading the day-to-day charge alongside Meg as co-executive producer, you can bet I’ll still be here, helping and supporting in every other possible way. I’ll see you all in Austin!
Wishing you all the happiest of holidays!
With heart,
Meg & Gail
